Our project takes place tomorrow. We have been in contact with local military recruiters of all the branches to request SWAG bags for veterans, current military members, and even future military members. They will all pitch in together to hopefully create these bags for nearly 60 service members. Unfortunately, we had a few of our plans not work out. The band could not play any military-themed songs for us throughout the game because the library doesn't have any for them to learn. Mr. Carney was very nice and helpful to us, but said he didn't think they would be able to learn any songs before the game given only a couple weeks to do it. Also, our rubber bracelets could not come in because of the coronavirus. They came from China, so the order was canceled. Even though those things may not have gone the way we wanted them to, we still have a lot going on. So, during the game, we will honor all types of service members, pass buckets for donations, and hold military-themed games during timeouts to win a Dragons Super Fan T-shirt. The recruiters coming in will also be able to set up tables and bring whatever they want with them. I am very excited about the night, and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

To start off our new project, Keegan and I contacted the Athletic Department because we loved working with them during our last project. They suggested we do something to honor service members around our community. So, Keegan and I came up with a military appreciation night during the last home basketball game. We decided to partner with Helping Hands For Freedom. They are going to provide buckets for donations during a quarter break. Keegan designed rubber bracelets to sell during the game to raise money for HHFF. We are also planning to hold military competitions for the student section to win prizes like superfan t-shirts. The competitions will be pushups, sit-ups, buddy races, and a few more. I think the night will be lots of fun and I can't wait to see how it ends up.
